Why "Beachfront" Means Different Things
Most hotel sites label anything within half a mile of the ocean as "beachfront." We don't. Every hotel on WildwoodHotels.ai is GPS-verified against the sand edge — not Ocean Avenue, not the boardwalk, the actual beach.
Wildwood's beaches are exceptionally wide (up to 2,000 feet from Ocean Ave to the waterline), which means a hotel on Ocean Ave can still be a 10-minute walk from the water. Our scoring accounts for this.
Top GPS-Verified Beachfront Hotels
Using our beach-access polyline that traces the NJ coastline from North Wildwood through Wildwood Crest, we tagged 89 hotels as true beachfront (≤900ft to sand). Here are the top picks by combined score:
- Alante Resort & Suites — #1 overall score, pool, direct beach access
- Aloha Hotel — #2 overall, oceanfront views, updated rooms
- Pan American Hotel — Wildwood Crest classic, wide beach access
How We Measure Distance
We geocode each hotel's address with Nominatim, then compute the perpendicular distance to our coastal polyline — a curved line hugging the sand edge from -74.800° (North Wildwood) to -74.830° (Wildwood Crest). Hotels ≤900ft are tagged beachfront. Hotels 901–2,500ft get the oceanfront tag.
No other Wildwood hotel site does this. Most pull "beachfront" from OTA meta-tags, which are self-reported by hotels. Our tags are mathematical.
