The wide beach means your "ocean view" from an oceanfront hotel is really a boardwalk view. You see the ocean, but it's far. I'd rather be one block back, save the money, and enjoy a pool that doesn't face a crowded boardwalk.

For a romantic trip or anniversary — yes, absolutely. Watching the sunrise from the balcony over the ocean is worth every cent. For a family trip where you're barely in the room — probably not. Spend the money on food and activities instead.
