The Season at a Glance
Wildwood is a seasonal resort town. The beach is technically open year-round, but most hotels, restaurants, and the boardwalk operate May–September.
Month-by-Month
May — Cool water (55–65°F), uncrowded beaches, prices 40% lower than July. Boardwalk opening weekends happen Memorial Day. Good for couples who don't need swimming.
June — Shoulder season. Water warms to 65–70°F by late June. Schools still in session = weekdays are quiet. Best value month for a quality trip.
July — Peak season. Water 72–76°F. Crowded everything. Prices at maximum. July 4th weekend is chaos (avoid if price-sensitive).
August — Same as July but crowds thin slightly toward month-end as schools start. Still expensive. Best pool weather.
September — Local favorite. Water still warm (68–72°F), crowds gone after Labor Day, prices drop 30–40%, most hotels still open. Best overall month if you're flexible.
October–April — Most hotels close or go to minimal staffing. Not a beach trip.
Our Recommendation
Late June or early September. You get warm water, manageable crowds, and prices that don't require a second mortgage. Search available hotels for your dates.
